My Day on 4/11/08
I woke up this morning blessed with a brand new day. A friend and coworker of mine is leaving her job. She has no idea what she is going to do with herself now. With today being her last day, she is venturing into new territory. She may as well be moving to China, that is how unfamiliar this new life will be to her. We do know though that when God closes one door He opens another. The space between the doors may be a little foggy but as soon as we walk through the one just opened our fears subside.
This morning, after hitting the snooze on the alarm clock four or five times, I heard my mother walk out the door. I knew it was time to get up for the day. I rolled out of bed, got dressed and got in my car headed to Shoney's for my friends going away breakfast. I started with coffee then got a little fruit to keep me from making a pig out of myself with the french toast sticks, bacon, and eggs. I am glad I did this because about the time I finished eating I saw a really good looking man come in wearing his Shoney's shirt ready for work. I definitely did not want to stuff myself in front of him.
After breakfast I went to the nail shop to get my eyebrows waxed and ended up getting a pedicure too. We all need a little pampering sometimes. Some of the youth from my church came in and without even discussing anything the three of us ended up with about the same color on our toes. Actually me and one of them got almost the same design while the other young lady got a flower on hers. As I was walking to the nail drier I had to be very careful not to fall since I had lotion fresh on my feet and I am not the most graceful person in the world. Then I sat and talked with the girls as they dried. All of our toenails turned out really good though.
Now I have made it back home and figured it would be a good time to write. Its such a beautiful day I decided to sit outside as I put this story together. I reconsidered my choice as I dodged bumble bees that seemed to be attracted to the smell of cedar chips on the ground beside me. So let me go ahead and end this so I can go inside and start on my housework. I may have the morning and afternoon off work but I still have work to do in the house. I mainly just need to straighten up some, wash dishes and take out the trash. Then hopefully I will have a little time to rest before I go in to work tonight at five.
Working with recovering addicts is helps me to think progressive and also the help the ladies I work with to move forward in thier lives. Putting the past behind them knowing that the future can be so much brighter. So I started out having a semi busy day with alot to do, knowing that each second that passes in a chance to receive blessings and to be a blessing.
