Elizabeth's adventure in China with Isaiah, Part 1

Elizabeth awoke one morning in China for a study abroad and tried to figure out what to eat for breakfast. She walked through the door to the kitchen and opened up the refrigerator. The contents were slim; there was milk, eggs, cheese, and some kind of weird moldy meat. She pulled out the milk and eggs, only to discover that the milk had gone sour and there was only one egg left. As she thought “How am I going to survive?” she suddenly decided to go down the street, past the trash cans on the side of the road, to the store. Elizabeth looked around the store looking for something to catch her eye; she saw the most beautiful flower in the world, in her opinion. She looked at the bright vibrant colors of pink, salmon, and turquoise all elegantly mixed to create this amazing creation. Elizabeth asked the man on duty at the flower station, whose nametag stated that his name was Isaiah.

“Excuse me, Isaiah,” not thinking that she had just said that in English. When he responded,
“Yes, Madam? How can I help you today,” she shockingly looked at him.

“You speak English?” she asked.

“Yes, my mother lives in a small unheard of town in Virginia, Buena Vista, actually and is teaching me how to speak and write so that when I travel over there to get my visa I can pass and stay.”

“Well by my standards, it seems that you will do just fine over there.”

“Was there something that you wanted to ask me earlier?”

"Oh! Yes! I was wondering about that magnificent flower over there? What kind of planter did you plan it in? I do not seem to recognize the exquisite work.”

“I see, well I have made that planter along with many others using a new technique involving the best of woods. However these particular planters can only be made in the fall."

“Why is that?”

“Well the wood used is cedar, a very temperamental wood in the spring and summer months and can only be molded like this in the fall.”

“Wait back up a second, did you just say that you made these planters???”

“Yes, I did.”

Elizabeth flabbergasted, stared at Isaiah for a moment, when he leaned over and kissed her, gave her one of the flowers in a special planter that he had made and went back to work. Elizabeth stood there still staring at him for a moment, when she realized that she was still hungry, the reason she came to the store. She turned and started to walk away when she spun around, marched up to Isaiah and tapped him on the shoulder.

“Yes, is there something I can…” he said as he turned around.

“Yes, there is something you can help me with. Have lunch with me.”

“Really, I cannot leave until dinner time.”

Elizabeth stated a small ok, then turned and walked away to continue her shopping for food, when she was checking out she looked up and Isaiah was standing there holding her bag of food. Amazed she walked over to him and took the bag. She slowly walked home with her groceries and flower. When she got in the door and started to unload the groceries, she spotted an envelope with a little heart on it. Inside was a short note.

Meet me back here at 8pm for dinner. Isaiah.

Excitedly she put the groceries away, and got ready for her date….
